APT has been sailing under the flag of the Masterflex Group since the beginning of 2017. And it is on a successful course: "The revenue realised to date is fully in line with our expectations and is even slightly above plan," says Dr Andreas Bastin, CEO of the Masterflex Group. The first joint sales projects, particularly in medical technology, have been launched and have a good chance of resulting in major orders.
The Masterflex Group is the first company on the market to offer networkable and intelligent or smart variants and options for the entire hose programme. All hose systems that are equipped with digital interfaces and offer lifecycle tracking functions are summarised under the name AMPIUS®. The digitalisation options are not limited to certain hose series or specific markets, but can be adapted to specific customer requirements.
What would the German economy be like without SMEs? Half as successful, half as diverse and far less international, according to the Munich Strategy Group (MSG), which together with the daily newspaper "Die Welt" is therefore honouring the "TOP 100 growth and earnings stars" from the SME sector for the seventh time. This is the second time that the Masterflex Group has made it into the elite of German SMEs. For the ranking, the structural data of around 3,500 medium-sized companies from all sectors and federal states were analysed.
The fluoropolymer specialist APT Advanced Polymer Tubing GmbH from Neuss becomes part of the Masterflex Group. APT has outstanding expertise in the field of high-tech plastics such as PTFE and other fully and partially fluorinated polymers. The material and application expertise that APT brings with it strategically rounds off the Masterflex Group's product portfolio.
Hoses and connecting lines in the food and pharmaceutical industries must fulfil strict regulations and requirements in terms of quality, hygiene, abrasion resistance, flexibility and resilience. Masterflex has added a new polyurethane (PUR) suction and transport hose to its range of permanently antistatic food hoses specifically for use in these industries: The Master-PUR FOOD A Multi is suitable for transporting foodstuffs according to simulant groups A to E thanks to its innovative material composition. It can be used to transport almost all types of food (dry, aqueous, acidic, alcoholic and fatty) and dairy products safely and reliably.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to changed limit values, these hoses currently no longer fulfil the approval for the food sector.
For the 23rd time, the TOP 100, the most innovative companies in the German SME sector, have been honoured. This year, the Masterflex Group belongs to this innovation elite for the first time - and took part in a demanding, scientific selection process. Innovation management and innovation success were analysed. The mentor of the innovation competition, Ranga Yogeshwar, will honour the top innovator at the German SME Summit on 24 June in Essen.
Masterflex SE in Gelsenkirchen has been successfully certified according to the new international standard ISO 9001:2015, making it the first manufacturer of technical hoses and connection systems in Europe with this quality feature. The certificate was awarded by TÜV Nord and is monitored regularly on an ongoing basis. This makes all process steps even more comprehensible and transparent for customers - including, for example, the fact that all employees are specifically trained and continuously improve their expertise.
In the course of the IPO in 2000, Friedrich Wilhelm Bischoping, one of the founders of the Masterflex Group, moved to the top of the Supervisory Board. After 16 years, he is now relinquishing this position. It was "exactly the right time" to place this important task in younger hands. The graduate engineer founded Masterflex Kunststofftechnik GmbH with two partners in 1987. Back then, the company had three employees; today it has more than 600 employees worldwide. Bischoping becomes Honorary Chairman of the Masterflex Group.
In Gelsenkirchen, the most important location for the production of spiral hoses, storage and production capacities are being significantly expanded. Firstly, the approx. 850m2 warehouse on Willy-Brandt-Allee was put into operation at the beginning of the year. In the second stage, a new two-storey building with a gross floor area of 7,700m2 and paved outdoor facilities will be erected. Mayor Frank Baranowski and representatives of the Gelsenkirchen Economic Development Agency as well as customers and business partners were also present at the laying of the foundation stone with CEO Dr Andreas Bastin.
The Masterflex Group is investing around seven million euros in the expansion of the Gelsenkirchen site. In doing so, the company wants to do justice to the constantly increasing order situation, but also strengthen the location and offer its employees an economically secure future. Both storage and production capacities are being expanded.
The new super-lightweight Master-PUR LF Trivolution polyurethane film hose is being launched on the market. It is designed for simple extraction applications and is the perfect entry-level product in premium quality: with its three characteristic properties (permanently antistatic, microbe-resistant, flame-retardant), it joins the proven and popular "Trivolution" hose series.

Antistatic FOOD hoses from Masterflex fulfil the new EU Regulation No. 10/2011, which will apply to all food-safe hoses from 2016. This means that all FOOD hoses can be used to transport foods ranging from potato starch and sugar to frozen foods and even milk powder for baby food.

The innovative FireFlex hose will be launched on the US market in autumn. FireFlex is a vehicle exhaust hose specially designed for the high-temperature range and was developed specifically for fire brigades' vehicle fleets.
At the Hannover Messe, the Masterflex Group is presenting itself for the first time together with its Masterflex and Novoplast Schlauchtechnik brands. The Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt, Dr Reiner Haseloff, was shown the Masterflex Group's innovations during the trade fair.
In February 2014, the Masterflex Group launches the world's first Master-PUR Trivolution product on the market: a single hose with THREE additional properties. The Master-PUR Trivolution® spiral hose is antistatic in accordance with TRBS 2153, microbe-resistant and flame-retardant in accordance with DIN 4102 B1.
A colourful and appealing marketing campaign with three symbolic "super heroes" is launched for the product launch.
In autumn 2013, the Masterflex Group puts new clean rooms into operation at the Halberstadt site. In order to meet the growing needs of its customers in the medical technology sector, a new clean room was added to the production facility for the Novoplast Schlauchtechnik brand.
In September 2013, the Masterflex Group launches an absolute world first on the market for spiral hoses: The "Master-PUR Performance®" from the Masterflex brand. This extruded spiral hose with an absolutely seamlessly smooth inner surface can withstand the highest loads when transporting rough or heavy bulk goods and is also significantly more flexible than comparably heavy PU hoses.
In May, the Group refinancing until 2018 is newly agreed. The new syndicated loan totalling up to EUR 40 million has a term until June 2018 and was concluded with only four banks. This agreement replaces the old loan valid until 2015 and essentially all other credit lines in the Masterflex Group and also provides funds for possible acquisitions in the core business.
Masterflex has had a new brand identity since March 2013. Since then, all products have been marketed under the umbrella brand Masterflex Group under one of the five company brands - Masterflex, Matzen & Timm, Novoplast Schlauchtechnik, Fleima-Plastic and Masterduct.
In October 2012, Masterflex celebrates its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, donations are collected internally and externally for the Gelsenkirchener Tafel e.V. organisation. An impressive four-figure sum is collected.
In June, the Annual General Meeting approves the conversion to Masterflex SE by a large majority. The reason for the change of legal form is its greater acceptance among globally active customers and investors. The conversion to an SE formally comes into effect on 1 October 2012, with no changes to the stock market listing.
In August, Masterflex is awarded the "Family-friendly company 2012" seal by the Gelsenkirchen Alliance for Families. This honours the company's long-standing practice of family-friendly working time models and emergency arrangements (e.g. sickness, cancelled classes).
Subsidiaries are founded in Germany, Singapore and China for the expansion into Asia. Following a successful search for a location, the sales team in Singapore and China is gradually built up.
Masterflex is honoured for its successful participation in the "Ökoprofit" project. The aim is to develop practical ideas that reduce the burden on the environment and cut operating costs at the same time.
In December, the Masterflex Group begins its expansion into Asia with the founding of the Asian lead company Masterflex Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore and a further location near Shanghai, China.
