In this area of application, we offer various (compliant) hose solutions that are approved for contact with foodstuffs. All models offer good abrasion resistance, flexibility and robustness - thanks to the material and design alone. Depending on the conveyed medium or requirement profile, you can choose between very flexible, lightweight or heavier and robust food hoses with a wide range of diameters. Electrically conductive foodstuff hoses are particularly important in the area of powder conveying (e.g. for flour) - and are of course available from us. We also offer a high-temperature hose or compliant hose systems within the industrial plant periphery.
Our safety and quality requirements and our experienced employees enable you to find exactly what you are looking for.
Depending on the planned application and the expected requirement profile, we offer light or heavy food hoses or pharmaceutical hoses with a wide range of diameters. Please do not hesitate to contact our expert staff!
Food-compliant hoses are usually extruded hose models. Our food hoses offer the best possible resistance with very good resilience and flexibility. We have relatively thick-walled foodstuff hoses (PU and PVC Polderflex), coated fabric hoses, profile-extruded spiral hoses and penumatic hoses. Especially in the production and filling of products that we consume or apply to the body, it is essential that production is as clean as possible. The cleanliness of the work equipment and the optimum choice of materials are crucial here.
The materials used for food hoses are tested for harmful substances and so-called "migration values". For this purpose, food simulants (exemplary test media with a liquid, oily or alcoholic base, for example) are tested - divided into substance groups - to determine whether and how many substances "migrate" from materials into media. This migration can occur physically, by abrasion or by chem. reactions between materials and the medium.
Food simulant groups (A, B, C, D, D1, D2 and E) are used for categorisation. It can be roughly stated that all dry goods fall under simulant group E and liquid/fatty foods are distributed between A-D2.
During the test, the food simulants are tested to ensure that migration values are not exceeded during a specified contact time to ensure that the medium is not "contaminated".
There are a number of standards in this sensitive area that the materials and products used must fulfil. For the products that we offer as Masterflex in the food and pharmaceutical sector, these include
- KTW / TPE transition recommendation and W270 certified for the transport of drinking water up to +60 °C
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
-EU
- FDA
- Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, BfR Recommendations for food contact materials
Our food hoses from Masterflex fulfil national and international requirements and are therefore used in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. The most common approvals in Europe are, for example, Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011, Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 or FDA 21 CFR §177.2600 (material complies with the aforementioned FDA food regulations).
Our Master-PUR Food hose series is made of particularly high-quality polyurethane (food-grade PU) and is therefore ideally suited for almost all applications involving food. The entire hose has also been officially approved by an independent testing institute. Testing was carried out in accordance with the new EC Directive 2002/72/EC, including the latest amendment Directive 2008/39/EC and 975/2009. We are therefore authorised to label these hose types with the official EC foodstuffs logo.
Of course, we also offer suitable connecting elements for all hose models. These can also be moulded directly onto the hose ends. In this case, we speak of a hose system. The advantages of cast-on connections are optimised flow, better manageability, less dead space and good durability.
Our large-scale campaign "Food hoses to avoid cost-intensive hazards" focuses on the importance of food-compliant high-tech hoses in the food industry. There is general information and a presentation of the relevant products - but also a checklist and an exciting mini-whitepaper.
