Suction hoses for autumn hose applications. Which PUR hoses does the industry particularly need in autumn?
Every year the leaves fall in autumn. This means a lot of extra journeys for municipal waste disposal companies. The city of Hamburg, for example, disposes of around 13,000 tonnes of autumn leaves on average each year. The leaves are removed not only for a neat appearance, but also for safety reasons: Damp leaves form a slippery layer on the ground. They also clog the gullies and hinder water drainage.
Large and small municipal sweepers are used for this work and solve these problems. These are usually equipped with hoses that can be found in the Masterflex portfolio. The main requirements for the hoses used here are flexibility, resistance to microbes/hydrolysis and abrasion resistance.
Our PUR hoses are used particularly often. They are flexible and robust and therefore particularly suitable for use in and on sweepers. Compared to the frequently used rubber hoses in particular, our PU conveyor hoses have a lower wall thickness and therefore less weight. When it comes to handling, plastic hoses are impressive due to their better compressibility, which plays a role in lowerable brushes and lifting systems - or extendable suction hoses, for example.
PUR hoses from Masterflex are the best choice for autumn hose applications.
Our Master-PUR H Streetmaster Pro, which has been specially designed for this application, offers the best performance in terms of crushability. When vacuuming leaves or cleaning streets, the material stress is very high, as not only leaves but also waste, broken pieces or stones are sucked in. As a rule, quite large diameters (200 - 400 mm) are used here to minimise the risk of blockages. The flow-optimised inner side, the outer fold and the improved tensile and tear strength of our Master-PUR H Streetmaster Pro are further adaptations to ensure optimised conveyance in the field of street and drain cleaning.
Our hoses are also in great demand in the portable leaf vacuum sector. Handling is particularly important here, as they are controlled manually.
Overall, polyurethane hoses are characterised by their high resistance to abrasion, microbes and hydrolysis. They have two decisive advantages over rubber: A significantly lower material thickness/lower weight and better flexibility.
