Making the good even better - that's how quality works for us! Quality management is a constant process towards more perfection.
Pascal Ruda, Quality Manager, provides the answer to this question in an interview.
Quality management is much more exciting than you might think. I am a very structured person who likes to think in terms of processes. I simply enjoy improving processes, convincing people, taking them on board and supporting them in the process.
ISO 9001 is the most important quality standard for us. It is an international standard with systematic requirements for a professional management system in companies. It is based on the basic PLAN, DO, CHECK and ACT model and incorporates a company's organisational structure and processes as a supporting structure. It is regularly developed internationally and is one of the standards in the professional league.
The advantages are: clear structures, well-considered processes and procedures as well as key figures that can be used to assess whether the course is still right. After all, there is no point in going full steam ahead if the direction is not right.
In addition to the internal audits, which serve to check the individual processes and systems for compliance with standards, the energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247 is carried out at certain legally prescribed intervals. We also successfully completed an automotive customer audit at the end of 2022 and fish farming certification (NS 9416:2013) at the beginning of 2023.
Quality management is an ongoing process. The QM system should support the processes that are actually practised and not just serve as documentation for the audit.
One key instrument is the continuous improvement process (CIP), for example. The aim of this approach is to achieve continuous improvement with the most sustainable effect possible within the company. CIP refers to improvements in product, process and service quality and is implemented through a process of continuous small improvement steps.
Quality should be practised in all departments, which is why all employees should be involved in quality management. In production, for example, almost every employee is trained to check quality. By being regularly present in production, we ensure greater safety in the production process and thus avoid errors and subsequent complaints.
